Rooms at Southside have been carefully created for your comfort and relaxation; each one contemporary, colourful and well equipped, and all en suite with showers. All bedrooms have direct line telephones, TV with DVD Player, Free Wireless Broadband Internet connection and many things to pamper you, not forgetting great firm mattresses and crisp linen for a fine night's sleep.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Breakfast at Southside Guest House is an important occasion! Breakfast is served at individual tables (one per room!) set up with linen. We try to cater for most tastes and feature the famous Southside Grill or the Vegetarian alternative. We regularly cater for guest on a Vegan diet. Each Day we also present a Special Dish or Ingredient which is of course also included in the price of your room. Cheeses, oatcakes, bakery and fresh fruit salad, complement the hot selection and we offer an excellent selection of teas and coffees including cappuccino, espresso and latte. You may have to give lunch a miss!! At the Scottish Hotels Awards for 2006 ~ Southside was the runner-up for the Scottish Hotel Breakfast of the Year 2006!! Southside does not have a restaurant or bar. However you will find Edinburgh's restaurant and bar scene very rich and diverse. Most types of cuisine are well represented and many restaurants have won critical accolades...and of course Edinburgh's pubs are world famous!! There are many neighbourhood pubs and restaurants all within a few minutes walk (5 to 10 minutes) from Southside. The restaurants are representative of various national and cuisine styles: Cantonese - Californian - Turkish - Thai - French - Modern Scottish - Indian - Mexican - Jamaican - North African. AREA INFORMATION
Southside Guest House is situated only a few minutes from the Meadows and Holyrood Park in the centre of the University Campus. Edinburgh Castle is close by. Venues, theatre, cinema and concerts as well as restaurants and pubs and the towering Arthur's Seat are no more than ten minutes walk away and Princes Street with its world famous shopping at the centre of Edinburgh is a 20 minute stroll. TRAVEL INFORMATION
From East end of Princes Street take North Bridge to the Royal Mile, continue South bound along South Clerk Street for approximately 1km. Southside is on the right hand side at the start of Newington Road. From the motorways, join the City By Pass (A720) and get off at the Straiton Junction, from here take the A701 into Edinburgh. Follow this road the whole way into the city. The road is designated A701 the whole way. You are getting closer to Southside ( 8, Newington Road) as you turn on Craigmillar Park, Mayfield Road, Minto Street and then Newington Road (different names for the same road and still on the A701) We are right on the corner with West Preston and East Preston Street.

Please note that standard check in time is between 15.00 and 20.00. If you arrive earlier than 15.00 we can store your luggage for you and advise you if the room can be available before 15.00. Arrangements can be made for check-in after 20.00.It is essential that we know when you will be arriving and be kept advised of any changes so that we can be in the house when you do arrive.
